Reader survey: SAP® testing often "too expensive"

There is further potential for optimisation in testing SAP® applications, a large proportion of respondents to the last survey of QUALITY readers are agreed. They are particularly critical of testing costs and the time it takes to carry out tests.

In some cases 48% see considerable scope for improvement in the cost of SAP® testing, with only 16% voicing satisfaction, and 52% would like to see improvements in test times. Only a limited number of respondents, contrast, complained of the quality of applications.

Automation of testing processes is still in its early days, with 64% of respondents stating that they either have no automation or still carry out over 80% of quality assurance work manually. Only a small minority (8%) has already automated most of its testing. In addition, just under one in four (24%) of the companies questioned said they regularly call on external testing experts to check their SAP® systems, while a further 20% do so only in critical project situations.
